Online support and advice for parents

Helping parents feel confident in their parenting roles can make a huge difference to family life.

This is why we run Parentline in Queensland and the Northern Territory – to provide a confidential service where parents and carers can get professional support.

Our counsellors provide respectful, constructive and non-judgemental telephone and online counselling seven days a week.

Parents and carers can access the website anytime to find a wide range of information and self-help resources about common parenting concerns. They will find relevant tip sheets and information regarding more than 100 topics.

In 2014 the most popular tip sheets were:
  1. Exam Stress
  2. Anxiety
  3. Cross cultural difference
  4. Self-harm
  5. Cyberbullying
It is crucial for all parents to have access to support and the reality is that many don’t have somewhere they can turn to when the going gets tough. Wendy Protheroe, Parentline General Manager.
We also have online forums where parents can chat to counsellors and other parents about issues concerning them.

This National Families Week we are asking for your help to let parents, carers, teachers and any one supporting children and families know about this important program. Please share this post with your networks.

Parentline’s telephone and email service operates between 8am-10pm, seven days a week. Web counselling is available from 11am-2pm, Tuesday and Thursday. For counselling support call Parentline on 1300 30 1300 or visit the website.

Parentline receives funding from the Queensland and Northern Territory Governments.
