Community Work Skills Traineeships

yourtown traineeships provide the skills and experience necessary to get a job.

What is it?

A paid, sixteen week entry level traineeship in Business, Construction or Conservation and Land Management.

Who is it for?

Young people aged 15-24 in Southeast Queensland.

Additional restrictions apply.

Get Valuable Experience

Trainees work on community projects undertaken by yourtown Social Enterprises.

At the same time, they are supported by counselling and learning activities to prepare them for a successful transition to work at the conclusion of the traineeship. Note: Participants must be ineligible for Australian Government employment support, have significant barriers to learning or employment, or have been unemployed for more than six months.

Participants receive:

  • Individual skills assessment and career advice
  • A personalised training and support plan
  • Support from Youth Workers
  • Literacy/numeracy training
  • Post placement support to ensure retention
  • Personal development and life skills
  • Access to sports and recreation programs training workshops
  • Support from qualified Trades Supervisors and trainers to help prepare for a Certificate I Level qualification
  • Referrals to specialists when necessary
  • Work preparation training tailored to skills in demand in local industry
  • Job search skills training (resumes, job applications, interview and presentation skills)
  • Job placement assistance
  • Post placement support to ensure retention.
