Doing what it takes

By: yourtown 27 Feb 2015 BoysTown

Everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute to their community. But many of the young people we support face significant barriers that prevent them from taking part in a meaningful work and social life.

SUPPORT. TRAINING. EMPLOYMENT.

Identifying these barriers and helping young people break through them is where BoysTown makes a difference. Young people like Amelia.*

When Amelia joined BoysTown she was very shy. That was until she participated in Certificate II in Workplace Practices training. Amelia grew in confidence and started dressing professionally. She was keen to get a job in retail, and she was persistent – going to interviews, cold canvassing, whatever it took.

She became a volunteer and her confidence grew even more. Now Amelia has finally landed the job she wanted at a major retail chain, and loves her role. She is happy and saving hard for a trip to Canada.

We provide personal attention and support that addresses each young person’s particular circumstances. We never give up or give in.

Last year we supported more than 9,500 job seekers just like Amelia in South East Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.
