Leading Women in Community Services

By: yourtown 08 Mar 2017 yourtown Organisation News

yourtown CEO Tracy Adams has been recognised as one of the most influential leading women of Queensland’s Community Services.

LEADERSHIP. DIVERSITY. AUTHENTICITY.

As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, the Community Services Industry Alliance (CSIA) has partnered with the Queensland Government, YWCA and Resonate to profile five of Queensland’s most influential leading women of Community Services.

yourtown CEO, Tracy Adams, is one of these five.

The Leading Women in Community Service Profiles, including Tracy’s, will be officially launched today, at an International Women’s Day event.

The CSIA hosted event will feature Tracy and the other four leading women profiled as part of a panel discussing their pathway to leadership and that of future generations.

“I think women should always be encouraged to be authentic leaders. Diversity in leadership, representing different views and different characteristics, and women feeling that they are given equal opportunity are all vitally important – taking their places as CEOs, in other Executive roles, and in the Boardroom.” Tracy Adams, CEO

There are close to 288,000 workers in the Queensland Health and Community Services Industry and 230,000 are women. These figures are multiplied many times over across Australia.

In yourtown, 77% of our workforce are women who occupy 69% of leadership positions. Their roles are diverse, ranging from counsellors and youth workers through to employment consultants, administrators, accountants and researchers.

True to yourtown’s Mission to improve lives, we are immensely proud of the work they and their male colleagues do to empower, educate and support young people across Australia. This includes working with girls and young women who may face barriers to employment or issues such as homelessness or abuse.
