yourtown Chief Executive Officer Tracy Adams said the refurbishment and re-launch of the Children & Families facility situated at Jetty Road, Old Beach today has been made possible with the help from young people from yourtown’s Social Enterprises program.

“We thank local tradespeople and many suppliers who also contributed materials and labour to this worthwhile community facility. Working alongside our Enterprise Trainers, long-term unemployed young trainees had an opportunity to learn some valuable skills while carrying out the upgrade to the Children and Families facility here in Old Beach,” said Ms Adams.

yourtown is proud to offer children and their families, access to our Early Childhood Development Program, which was established with help from the Margaret Pemberton Foundation, supplemented by yourtown donors and fundraising.  The program delivers case management, child development and expressive therapy services to preschool-aged children to make a successful transition to school and to help to improve later outcomes for them,” continued Ms Adams.

“We want to make sure that the young children in the local council area of Brighton have the best start to life, our team will both strengthen and tailor supports for these families. Transitioning to school is a major milestone for children and their families. It’s important that they are well prepared for a great start and are able to learn and flourish whilst adapting to the new setting, systems and social interactions,” said Ms Adams.

“We believe every child can, and should, thrive. This program is available to families with children aged 2.5 – 6 years, with priority given to families with a caregiver under 25 years and families who live in the Old Beach area.

“This free program has a special focus on developmental concerns and helping parents early, and we are excited to be able to support local families in this refreshed and welcoming facility, concluded Ms Adams.
