Stand up against domestic violence

By: yourtown 25 Nov 2014 BoysTown

Today is White Ribbon Day and around the world people are taking action to stop men’s violence against women.

END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Every day BoysTown works with women and children who have experienced that kind of trauma at our family violence refuge.

We can accommodate up to seven families at any one time and are one of the few refuges in Australia that can accommodate large families and adolescent males.

Families stay with us for up to 12 weeks and we provide a safe place, physically and emotionally, so that women can regain a sense of control and set a new direction for themselves and their children.

Our caring team offer workshops, links to health and legal services, life skills training and support to find independent housing.

Last year we helped 54 mothers and their 133 children regain a sense of control over their lives.

Our refuge is 100 per cent funded by BoysTown and you can help by supporting our Art Union, making a donation or raising awareness of our need for support. That’s as easy as sharing an update on Facebook or just telling your friends and family.
