Tapped In

BoysTown’s new alcohol harm minimisation project, Tapped In, is helping young people understand the risks associated with drinking.

SUPPORT. AWARENESS. PREVENTION.

The project, in partnership with the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE), began earlier this year with client focus groups across our South East Queensland, Western Sydney and Adelaide sites.

The groups provided great insight into what young people know about the risks associated with alcohol. Some said they had a lot of knowledge and were frustrated that adults assumed they “didn't know anything”. It was also clear that young people knew the risks of alcohol extend beyond physical harm to include risks to relationships, employment and social life.

We are now developing workshops based on the findings from those focus groups.

This exciting project will provide education and training, create a safe place for discussion, and equip young people with the skills and knowledge they need to make informed, responsible decisions around alcohol. Audra McHugh, Workshops and Special Projects Coordinator

Tapped In is only one of the many ways we are helping children, young people and families to create brighter futures.
