Will you answer the call?

By: yourtown 12 Sep 2014 Kids Helpline

Kids Helpline is excited to share our new campaign that’s raising awareness about the funding challenges we face in providing our essential services to young people. And to give you the opportunity to SHOUT us some support!

WE CARE. WE LISTEN.

Last year there were almost 390,000 attempts to reach Kids Helpline counsellors via telephone and online services. Every 60 seconds a young person reaches out to Kids Helpline looking for someone to care and listen as they struggle with significant issues such as suicide, mental illness and family problems.

Kids Helpline is staffed 24/7 by qualified counsellors who are trained to support young people in need. It’s an expensive service to operate but one that is highly valued by those who use it.

Unfortunately for every ten kids that call, six get through. Four don’t. Help us change this so kids have someone to speak to when they feel most vulnerable.

We are proudly working with Shout for Good to help raise funds needed to reduce the number of calls going unanswered. Together we believe that a lot of small “shouts” can make a big difference and so the Answer the call campaign was developed. The Shout for Good team is working hard to help us get the word out and you can help too.

Download the Shout for Good app now and donate today. Or you can also make a donation via the Kids Helpline page on Shout for Good.

You can also follow the conversation on the Kids Helpline Facebook page.

Miranda Kerr has already answered the call. Will you? Comment below.
