Challenging behaviour worries parents

By: yourtown 19 May 2015 BoysTown, Parentline, Family & Community Services

In an era where raising children has become so complex, Parentline offers mums, dads and other carers guidance and reassurance to help them feel confident.

COUNSELLING. EDUCATION. SUPPORT.

Our qualified counsellors take more than 180 calls a week from parents or carers seeking support on a range of parenting and family relationship issues.

The top five concerns reported last year were:

  1. Challenging behaviour and discipline
  2. Parent-child relationships
  3. Child mental health/emotional wellbeing
  4. Parenting strategies
  5. Parent relationships
Parents and carers can be stressed about work, money, relationship issues and the challenging behaviour of their child. It is crucial they realise they are not alone and that help is available. Wendy Protheroe, Parentline General Manager.

We not only provide over-the-phone and web support but are able to connect people with the many valuable resources, specialist services or face-to-face support available to them locally.

This National Families Week we are asking for your help to let parents, carers, teachers and any one supporting children and families know about this important program. Please share this post with your networks.

Parentline’s telephone and email service operates between 8am-10pm, seven days a week. Web counselling is available from 11am-2pm, Tuesday and Thursday. For counselling support call Parentline on 1300 30 1300 or visit the website.

Parentline receives funding from the Queensland and Northern Territory Governments.
