Parenting services boosted

By: yourtown 18 Jun 2015 Parentline, Family & Community Services

Our Penrose Young Parents Program in Port Pirie will support even more families following a funding boost.

HELP. COUNSELLING. SUPPORT.

The Penrose program offers young parents and soon to be parents support and education, whilst giving them a chance to develop new friendships.

We've received funding until 2020 for the CARE+ program. This will see an additional staff member employed to help focus on support for children up to 12 years of age and their parents and carers. We will be even more active in the local community including home visits, advocacy and referral and case management in schools.

BoysTown programs are specific to the changing needs of young people. Helping young parents understand the tasks and responsibilities of parenthood means they can better manage their family life. Wendy Protheroe, Counselling Services General Manager.

This is one of the many counselling and support services delivered by our staff encouraging, valuing, respecting and celebrating parents and their children.
